Spring set to arrive at McGill Duncan

"Lets hope the snow melts away in time to welcome in our Spring Exhibition on Thursday night! We will be serving drinks in the gallery from 7 pm - 9:30 pm on the 28th March so please join us in Castle Douglas to view the exhibition for the first time. It is also the Spring Fling taster exhibition opening that night, so hopefully you'll be able to make a night of it and come to both events.

The exhibition sees us exhibiting the work of an artist new to the gallery - Michael G Clark PAI. We love his subtle brushwork and beautiful compositions.

Artist Felicity Walker will be joining us on Thursday, she has been painting in Galloway specially for this exhibition and really capturing our wonderful farmlands and countryside.

After a break to have her lovely daughter Tabitha, etcher Helen Fay is back at work with some stunning new etchings - our favourite is a very large etching of a Labrador, we haven't photographed it yet as it has only just arrived, hot off the etching press, but it will be on the web site soon.

Sandy Murphy RSW RGI PAI has also been working in Galloway for us and we are delighted to have two of his distinctive, rhythmic, drawings and some beautiful oil paintings.

The ceramics of Margaret Brampton are always sought after in the gallery and the consignment of pots that she sent for this show almost sold out as we were unpacking it! We are awaiting another delivery of these very collectable pieces.

Tracy Levine was a very popular new face in the gallery in 2012 and we were keen to represent her again in 2013. The collection of work she has given us for this show includes landscapes from her native Cumbria as well as some fantastic monoprints from France and evocative Scottish landscapes.

All in all a wonderful collection, and we can't wait to share it with you.

Lets hope SPRING arrives with our Spring Exhibition!"
